MCKENZIE DIAGNOSTIC TECHNIQUE
The McKenzie Method of MDT is an assessment process we use specifically for pain in the low back (Part A). This method is a well researched, exercise-based approach of assessment, diagnosis, and treatment that doesn’t require expensive diagnostic imaging. MDT provides patients with the principles in enabling them to take control of their own symptom management.
DRY NEEDLING
Dry needling is a highly skilled evidence based technique involving a thin filiform needle that penetrates the skin to stimulate underlying tissue. This technique uses a “dry” needle, one without injection and is inserted into areas of the muscle. Dry needling is typically 1 technique that’s part of a larger treatment plan for trigger points. Physical therapists utilize dry needling with the goal of inactivating/releasing the trigger points, reducing pain, and restoring motion.
PERFORMING ARTS MEDICINE
At In Motion Physical Therapy, we balance artistic expression with athletic ability through technical evaluations and conditioning to help you return to your highest level of performing possible. We treat dancers, production crew, musicians, artists, and other performing artists utilizing evidence-based treatments to provide the best care possible.
ORTHOPEDIC REHABILIATION
Orthopedic Rehabilitation is an evidence based branch of physical therapy concerned with treatment of injuries of the musculoskeletal system including muscles, joints, and ligaments. Includes pre and postoperative rehabilitation of the hip, shoulder, knee, and other joints. The goal of orthopedic physical therapists is to reduce pain, increase range of motion, improve strength and flexibility, and restore function to the patient.
MANUAL THERAPY
Manual therapy is a specialized hands-on physical therapy approach that uses no devices or machines. Practitioners' treatments may include moving joints in specific directions and at different speeds to restore movement, known as joint mobilization and soft tissue mobilization. Manual therapy is performed to reduce or eliminate soft tissue inflammation, break up scar tissue, correct joint mechanics, reduce pain, and allow for early return to exercising and daily function.
INSTRUMENT ASSISTED SOFT TISSUE MOBILIZATION
Use of specific ergonomically designed tools designed to detect and treat soft tissue areas of diagnosed tissue dysfunction. Instruments can be effective in relieving compressive forces and associated pain due to soft tissue dysfunction. IASTM is a procedure that is rapidly growing in popularity due to its effectiveness and efficiency while remaining non-invasive.
RUNNING ANALYSIS
Includes: 2D motion analysis examining running mechanics: cadence, pace, strike pattern, tissue stress/loading pattern, joint angles, and phases of running with data explanation. Shoe and orthotic recommendations as needed. Personalized return to running rehabilitation program.
